I live in an older home. Why should I upgrade my electrical system?
Answer: Safety and convenience. Today’s lifestyle requires more circuits in the electrical panel. When a circuit shuts down repeatedly, it is a warning that should not be ignored. Some people replace blown fuses with fuses that are too large—which can cause circuit overloads that create fire hazards. In fact, some insurance companies require that homes have updated electrical systems.
Why do outlets sometimes not work in bathrooms and garages?
Answer: GFI-protected outlets can be “tripped.” When they are, they need to be reset, otherwise they won’t work. To reset the outlet, look for a red button in the middle of the outlet. Outlets in bathrooms, garages, utility rooms and exterior spaces are often GFI-protected outlets.
